Progress! Ecuador Shutting Down 'Ex-Gay' Torture Clinics!

Words cannot properly express how happy we are to hear that these horrendous facilities are being shut down.

Earlier this week, Ecuador's government announced that they'll be shutting down 'ex-gay' clinical programs, which were basically clinics that "were torturing and abusing people with promises to 'cure' them of homosexuality."

AllOut.org co-founder Andre Bank has expressed his appreciation towards "courageous LGBT and women's rights activists in Ecuador, and supporters around the world who helped elevate this national scandal to global prominence."

The gay advocacy website, along with Change.org, was able to get 178,000 signatures on petitions that demanded an end to these horrific programs in Ecuador.

Not only did the country respond to the outcry by closing the 'ex-gay' clinics, but Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa also appointed LGBT rights activist Carina Vance Mafla as the country's new Health Minister earlier this week!

Just goes to show that if people make enough of a fuss, change CAN happen!
